Tony (Tongyun) Yang is a Ph.D. candidate at IMDEA Networks Institute, conducting research within the 6th Sense Project. His work focuses on designing efficient wireless sensing systems for human/obstacle detection and tracking, leveraging ubiquitous wireless signals to enable intelligent, context-aware environments.
Tony holds a Master’s degree in Computer and Embedded Systems Engineering from TU Delft, where he developed an immersive emotion recognition system based solely on eye-tracking technology. Prior to his Ph.D., he also worked as a research engineer at TU Delft’s Imaging Physics Department, where he focused on optimizing AI models for medical imaging through advanced model pruning techniques.
Driven by a passion for applying technology to real-world challenges, Tony is especially interested in integrating AI, embedded systems, wearable devices, etc. to create impactful, human-centered innovations. His work is guided by curiosity and a commitment to building systems that serve the greater good.
